I promised you separate posts for everything I’ve ordered from Colourpop. So, here you have the next one on the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter. Are you interested to read my review on their eyeshadows? Click here and it will take you to that post.
I’ve never been into the “highlighter” trend too much. Was it because I haven’t tried one that would look really good on my light skin? Who knows… I have one of those Maybelline Highliters, then I have a highlight product by Physician Formula, that’s about it. I did try a bunch of samples though. Nothing had stolen my heart yet. Funny, cause today we’re talking about the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Stole the Show :)
The packaging of the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter is identical to their eyeshadows. The difference being the size. It is almost twice the size.
Net Weight: 4.2g / 0.15oz
Available at www.colourpop.com
This highlighter is described as:
Stole the Show – Light cool-toned gold with luminous flashes of pink, silver and gold. They’ll want an encore when you put this on.
Very accurate color description.
The formula is Colourpop’s usual deal: cream to powder. It feels exactly like their eyeshadows. Very pigmented. A very high reflective product. Super intense shine.
I was using it as an eyeshadow too (which in fact is my preferred way). Lasts just as long as the regular Super Shock eyeshadows. On the cheeks though the shimmer can migrate a little, from where you initially applied it. Maybe if you’re gonna use a setting spray, it might help.
Now, I was looking for a high sheen highlighter. This one doesn’t give me that sheen. It is just plain intense shimmer :) Looks like micro glitter. Not my cup of tea. Looks pretty on the eyes though.
The application was another thing that turned me away from using it as a highlighter. Colourpop recommends using a synthetic brush to apply it or just use fingers. I did both and didn’t like the result. The synthetic bristles barely pick up any product. It kinda glides right to the end of the bristles and forms some little balls. The product just chunks up. And when you apply it to the prominent parts of your face, these chunks transform into gold shimmer with pink flecks. When I was reading the description of this color, I was imagining it a bit different.
But hey, I know a lot of folks swear by these highlighters. Maybe I just don’t apply it right? You have any advice for me or suggestions? I wanted to like the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Stole the Show so bad… Help me out please :) Are there any specific tools to be used with the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter? Any techniques? Let me know please!
I would recommend it to someone looking for a high intense shimmery highlighter with tons of flecks!
Unfortunately, Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Stole the Show is just not the one for me. I don’t need no “Christmas party” on my cheeks :) Sorry. No offense to those who adore such products!
This would conclude my post. One more Colourpop product review is coming ;) Stay tuned.
