Hello to all my readers!
I am not a fan of drugstore eyeshadow palettes. Most of the time I would be disappointed by the subpar quality or poor color selection. But I picked up one of the Hard Candy eyeshadow palettes from the Look Pro collection last week, all thanks to its similarity with the Too Faced packaging :)
The Look Pro collection brings you three kind of palettes: Natural Eyes, Sassy Eyes and Smokey Eyes. The Natural Eyes palette was the one that caught my attention and which I ended up buying.
Look pro. The Hard Candy Natural Eyes Eyeshadow Palette is your one stop for a complete look. It includes nine professionally coordinated eye shadows, Hard Candy’s bestselling Eyes the Limit Long Wear Eye Shadow Primer, a mini Take Me Out Liner in Soy and a dual-ended eye shadow applicator all housed in a reusable collectible tin. This palette also includes an instructional card with three start-to-finish looks, appropriate for any occasion.
Brand: Hard Candy
Volume: Eyeshadow 0.39 oz / 11.1 g Primer 0.17 oz / 5 g Pencil 0.017 oz / 0.5 g
Now you know what I mean by mentioning its packaging in the beginning of this post. It’s adorable. Very, very Too Faced like :) It has a magnetic closure, not the very best one though. I wouldn’t suggest carrying it around with you in a bag or travel with it, unless you will secure it somehow.
Besides the 9 shadows this palette comes with a deluxe sample primer, a pencil and an applicator.
The colors in this palette are definitely more on the warm side, which I prefer actually.
It has a variety of textures. You have 4 matte colors and 5 shimmers. You don’t really need another palette to complete a look.
The card which comes with the Hard Candy Natural Eyes palette would be helpful for beginners or for those days when you’re out of any ideas… There are also listed the names of each eye shadow, which is cool if you are gonna make a look and wanna mention the colors you’ve been using.
Now a few words about the quality of this eyeshadows. Let me tell you these are one of the best drugstore eyeshadows I’ve used in a while. The pigmentation is great. They blend beautifully. Very easy to work with. The color selection is very well thought indeed. The colors are not boring… When I look at the palette I instantly get an idea of what I want on my eyes today :)
1st top raw: Tease, Toying, Minx
Tease – matte, very pigmented, classic ivory highlighting color.
Toying – matte, neutral medium brown
Minx – matte, dark coffee
2nd raw: Bashful, Girlie, Philander
Bashful – shimmery/metallic light pink
Girlie – shimmery/metallic mauve pink
Philander – brown with green hue and lots of light pink and gold glitter
3rd raw: Chatty, Coy, Frisky
Chatty – matte beige
Coy – metallic gold
Frisky – warm, deep brown more on the reddish side with light pink and gold glitter
On top of the primer which comes with this palette, the eyeshadow stayed on all day without fading or creasing. I enjoyed using the primer. It has no color. Creates a smooth canvas for your eyeshadow application. The pencil is good also. Nothing out of this world, but I liked using it. Not greasy and not too dry.
One thing you should keep in mind is that these eyeshadows are very soft so you might experience some fall out. Make sure you dip your brush with a light hand into the pan. then tap off any excess. I always do that, so even if there are some fall out, it is as minimal as it can be.
Don’t be fooled by the name of this palette. You can get any look you want out of this palette, from a natural eye to a very dramatic arabic makeup. The intensity of the shadows is very buildable.
I am using the Hard Candy Natural Eyes Palette a lot more often than my Naked 3 by Urban Decay or my Chocolate Bar by Too Faced. I am not joking. It feels to me that it is a mix of those two. It has some beautiful warm browns and some pinks too.
I recommend checking it out 100%. For $8 you won’t find anything better! I didn’t have any luck with the Hard Candy eyeshadows before, but looks like now they’re doing better. I might be checking some other palettes too.
And here is one of the many looks I’ve done using this palette, this kind of look is one of my fav lately :)
Hope you will like it.
Thanks for reading and see you very soon :) Take care.
