I’ve been ignoring these Maybelline Expert Wear Eye shadow Quads for way too long… And Maybelline kept adding new color selections, all of them so appealing to my eye.
The price is very affordable. They are only $4.97 at Walmart.
There are so many choices. It wasn’t easy at all to choose three. I thought one is not enough and more than three it’s too much.
If Autumn Coppers and Emerald Smokes are built of complimentary colors, then Electric Blue is all about contrasts! That blue is so so beautiful. It’s the most gorgeous blue color in my collection.
As you can see each of the Maybelline Expert Wear Eye shadow Quads comes with four eye shadows. Autumn Coppers and Emerald Smokes are all shimmery and the Electric Blue eye shadow quad is all matte besides one color.
The packaging is typical Maybelline’s style. They also included two sponge applicators in every palette.
In all honesty, these are not my favorite palettes. I don’t use them often.
The pigmentation level is not enough for me. Most of the eye shadows apply sheer. Plus, they don’t adhere well to my lids. A primer is a must, and it better be a sticky primer, or you are gonna get lots of fall out.
They can apply patchy.
The colors don’t really work well with each other. May look patchy when you try to blend one color into another. What I would suggest, just use one color on the mobile lid and highlight your inner corner. That’s how I made them look decent on my eyes.
As to the lasting power, eh, 3-4 hrs. After that I do notice they do not look that “fresh”, they start fading… The shimmery shades would crease a little bit too.
And… the swatches:
Maybelline Expert Wear Eye shadow Quad in Electric Blue
This eye shadow quad has 3 mattes and one shimmery: a purdy blue, a lavender, black and a shimmery silvery white.
They are all powdery. The matte colors are chalky. I applied the blue and lavender on top of my NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk. I don’t like using this black at all, it applies patchy, doesn’t blend well with other eye shadows and it’s not black enough.
These matte eye shadows are the worst out of all 3 eye shadows quads blendability wise. But it’s so worth it just for that one blue eye shadow :) At least for me.
Again we have powdery eye shadows here. I don’t like the base color on my lids at all, it fades way too fast. But the others three are ok. These are not as chalky as the Electric Blue palette. All the shadows have very fine glitter which look nice in the sun or artificial lights.
Very nice colors. Earthtoned greens and a beautiful shimmery pale gold.
These eye shadows are powdery.
The deep greenish black works well in the crease, it doesn’t apply patchy. I love that glitter in it too. Just make sure to tap the brush before you apply it on the lid.
The base color is absolutely beautiful. I can see it used as a highlighter on deeper skin tones.
