I have combination/oily skin. Finding a foundation that will control your oils and fill in your pores is like hitting a jackpot! There are a few drugstore foundations that I really love and obsessed with: Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous! and most of the Rimmel foundations. And I know there is a tremendous amount of foundations for oily skin out there nowadays. But really, most of their claims end up being empty promises. Let’s see today, if the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation lives up to all its claims.
It is available in 22 shades. With such a large variety, Maybelline is on a par with high end brands. One of the few drugstore brands that covers so many skin tones and shades.
I had to get the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in 110 Porcelain and 112 Natural Ivory. The Porcelain is too pale for me and the 112 way too pink. Since the 110 is yellow toned, when mixed with the 112 I get a beautiful neutral light beige.

My take on it:
See thru glass bottle with a plastic glossy black cap. Looks nice. Doesn’t come with a pump. This leads to wasting the actual product every time I use it.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation is a water based foundation. Feels very lightweight on the skin. It is very runny. This makes it quite messy since it doesn’t come with a pump. I hope they will do it one day, just like Revlon finally did for the Colorstay Foundations! It applies best with a damp sponge. I couldn’t get an even application using a brush. It sets too quickly. The finish is nice – natural matte.
Doesn’t look that natural anymore with a 2nd layer. Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation emphasized the texture of my skin. It never blended into my skin, it just sitted on top. Without a smoothing primer it sinks into my pores making them so noticeable.
Also, it has the tendency to cling to dry patches and settle into my fine lines.
Medium, buildable. It did a good job evening out my skin tone. But I still needed my concealer to hide my acne scars and some of the redness around my nose.
OIL CONTROL & LASTING POWER
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation keeps my oils under control for 3-4 hrs on average. And that’s with powder on top. After the 4 hour mark, my skin shows up some “subtle glow”. By the 6th hour, my skin definitely needs a touch up. I can see some fading on my chin, creasing around my nose and corners of my mouth by the 8th hour of wear. So for me, I can not have it on longer than 8 hours. Of course, my oils are totally revealed by that time also.
Moving into swatches…

It reminds me a lot of MUFE Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. Maybe because both are water based. My combination skin doesn’t like water based foundations. It sounds ridiculous, I know. But that’s what it is. With or without primers, water based foundations don’t last too long on my skin. I get oily in 3-4 hrs. And when it fades it looks scaley.
Have you guys tried the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation? What are your thoughts on it? You like it? You have another foundation suggestion for me that will hide my pores and control oils? Let me know please!
Another big con for me : IT OXIDIZES! My face is definitely a shade darker comparing to my neck in an hour or so. Not cute at all, right?
Then, in order to minimize the appearance of my pores I have to use a primer all the time with this foundation. By itself it does nothing. Using smoothing primers every day makes me breaking out. Silicones have a negative impact on my skin… :(
I will not repurchase it unfortunately.
