I have a good relationship with Rimmel as a brand. We have our ups and downs, but I am pleased with its quality overall. Especially considering Rimmel’s very affordable prices. Since I needed an eye pencil I picked up the Rimmel Exaggerate Smoke N’ Shine Gel Eye Liner. I really enjoyed my Rimmel’s eye pencils before, so why not giving this one a try?
So, the Rimmel Exaggerate Smoke N’ Shine Gel Eye Liner is automatic and it has a sharpener on the other end as well as a sponge to blend the pencil.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see any other color than black, so that’s what I got.
You’re not gonna get a lot of product though. I am going through all my Rimmel eye and lip pencils very quick.
On the bright side, the price is very affordable. I paid about $4.5 at Walmart. Don’t forget that you can actually save $1 on Rimmel products. You can easily find the coupon on any of those coupon sites.
First time I tried to apply the Rimmel Exaggerate Smoke N’ Shine Gel Eye Liner on top of my eye shadows as an eye liner, I didn’t like it. Turned out to be not as opaque as I expected and way too waxy. So, this gel eye liner couldn’t be used as an eye liner properly. But when I tried to blend it a little bit, it blended so nicely. And I decided to give it another chance, but not as a gel eye liner… as an eye shadow base. Since it’s blending so beautifully and effortless why not using it for my smoky eyes?
Now I use the Rimmel Exaggerate Smoke N’ Shine Gel Eye Liner religiously to enhance all my deep eye shadows. I can’t use it by itself, it definitely needs to be set with powder eye shadows.
Rimmel Exaggerate Smoke N’ Shine Gel Eye Liner didn’t replace my regular gel liner in a jar by no means, but I still like it. But hey, it serves me as a very good eyeshadow base, if not the best I have tried so far. My smokey eyes are very intense now, thanks to my little friend :)
If there would be more colors, I’d try some other shades too.
Definitely a product which is worth your attention. Good job, Rimmel :)
