I was hunting these Wet n Wild Silk Finish lipsticks for a couple of weeks at our Walgreens. After watching 5-6 raving videos about them I couldn’t deny it anymore… I HAD TO BUY AT LEAST A COUPLE OF THEM :) The price is only $0.99 each and I think that one the most convincing part to go and get me some of those lippies.
I would get more but unfortunately these lipsticks would be gone most of the time. So whatever they had left, that’s what I got :)
These are supposed to be the updated version of their Silk Finish line, so I had quite a bit of expectations.
So, I got me Cherry Frost, Nouveau Pink, What’s Up, Doc? From what I’ve heard and read they should be really creamy, moisturizing and very pigmented. And for $0.99 that would be such a steal!
I have to agree with the first part, they are very creamy indeed. Too creamy for my liking, I’d have that greasy feeling on my lips. And that’s already a con for me.
I didn’t like their pigmentation. To get the opacity I want, I had to layer them a lot. They are not layering too well hence to their very creamy formula. It would sink in all my fine lines and if you have dry lips… oh, boy! Don’t even try to wear these!
I’ve had the worst experience with the Nouveau Pink. It was the most streaky on my lips and sheer.
What’s Up, Doc? – was not as bad but I didn’t like it anyways. I have to admit the color is really pretty though. A warm bright coral…
Cherry Frost – it performed the best out of the bunch but I don’t like frosty lipsticks. I didn’t know that from the beginning. It is a nice red color but those golden specks… that just killed it. The pigmentation and its formula are better than the previous ones.
Lasting power is not impressive. Again, out of the three I’d say the Cherry Frost will last you the longest, but anyways, you will definitely need a touch up after a snack, maybe even you will need to reapply it.
I didn’t like these Wet n Wild Silk Finish lipsticks. Can’t recommend them. But maybe the other colors perform better. I have seen this happening a lot of times. For me they are just too creamy and sheer with no lasting power.
Did you try any other colors? Any more luck than I had? :)
